November 04, 2021 - A state-qualified health center (FQHC) in Kentucky uses a cloud-based EHR implementation from eClinicalworks to improve care coordination.

Family Health Centers Inc. (FHC) cares for 43,000 patients each year regardless of their health insurance status or solvency.

The EHR implementation provides FHC with a single source for the management of medical, dental, and behavioral information for patients in eight facilities in the greater Louisville area.

“By using eClinicalWorks technology, we can accomplish our mission to provide high quality primary and preventive care to our patients regardless of their solvency,” said Larry Owen, FHC's chief information officer, in a public statement. “EClinicalWorks understands the unique needs of FQHCs and creates bespoke tools that benefit both our patients and our staff.

Owen noted that the project is funded by government support provided by the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) to strengthen the community's health centers during COVID-19.

FHC will also have access to PRISMA, a health information search engine that combines patient data from specialists, emergency clinics, hospitals, general practitioners, health insurers and wearable devices.

Access to comprehensive, searchable patient histories is intended to improve care coordination.

"Everyone deserves equal access to quality healthcare, and we are constantly improving our technology to better meet those needs and do so more efficiently," said Girish Navani, CEO and Co-Founder of eClinicalWorks.

"With PRISMA, eClinicalWorks offers a network EHR that is a smarter EHR," continued Navani. “We give point-of-care providers access to every patient's complete medical record. We're equipping Family Health Centers and other PCMH customers with a digital platform capable of better managing the health care they provide to underserved populations. "

Somo Medical Center in Palm Beach County, Florida is also using an EHR implementation from the healthcare IT provider to improve clinical decision support.

"With eClinicalWorks, our medical and administrative team is more efficient and effective, which has helped us continue to fulfill our mission to meet health needs with ethical, social and environmental responsibility," Andres Florez, Vice President of Soma Medical Center, in a public Declaration recorded.

"The switch to the software from eClinicalWorks was so easy and we are very happy to see how quickly we can benefit from it," continued Florez.

The health center will use the EHR at 25 locations.

"We are very excited to partner with Soma Medical Center as the patient-centered culture, vision and mission of both companies are perfectly aligned," said Girish Navani, CEO and co-founder of eClinicalWorks.

"Our focus is on bringing advanced eClinicalWorks technology to the Soma Medical Center staff and patients to simplify a number of functions, including data collection and patient communication, and ultimately improve patient access and outcomes." , he added.

According to experts, cloud-based EHR systems offer several advantages compared to conventional in-house systems.

The cost of implementing and maintaining a cloud-based EHR system is much cheaper than an in-house EHR system. Some cloud systems even allow users to pay a lower subscription fee, which can be as low as $ 100 per month.

Experts also say that cloud-based EHR implementations allow health information to be shared more securely than in-house EHR systems. EHR security keeps patients safe and can prevent potential threats and security breaches.

In addition, cloud-based EHRs can support interoperability as everyone can access health information from a single, secure source.
