Technology High Named A Top U.S. High School: U.S. News

ROHNERT PARK, CA - The Cotati-Rohnert Park Unified School District's Technology High has been named one of the best high schools in the United States for 2021, according to a new ranking by US News and World Report. This year's list includes more than 17,800 public high schools across the country and 2,598 public high schools in California. Among those schools, Technology High was ranked # 263 in the nation, # 35 in the state of California, and # 1 in the Santa Rosa Metro Area. Technology High received a total of 98.53 points on its scorecard from its US news: 74 percent of students have taken at least one Advanced Placement exam, 63 percent have passed at least one AP exam, the school has 82 percent math skills, 96 percent about reading skills. and a completion rate of 100 percent. Elsewhere in the district, Credo High was ranked 9,219 in the nation and 1,092 in California with a 91 percent graduation rate, while Rancho Cotate High was ranked 9,918 in the nation and No. 1

Holding back the tears, Teresa Short described her struggles trying to help her son, a preschooler in need of special education, catch up after the school disruptions caused by COVID. Her school district, Fayette County Schools in Somerville, could only offer summer academic programs to children in K-12, she said. The reason, she was told, was the limited funding. "So I had to find private schools to try to get him to and pay out of my pocket to try and get him an education and get him where he needs to be," said Short. Given the opportunity to weigh how Tennessee should approach its first revision of the school funding formula in 30 years, Short advocated giving more money to schools overall and ensuring more money is allocated to special education students. 'A Big Step Forward': Centralia School Levy Surges to 69-Vote Lead on Third Try

The measure leads with 69 votes - a bigger lead than on election night, when it fell behind with 23 votes. It must retain a 50% majority plus one vote to pass. The school board members and staff were delighted with the 92-vote turnaround and expressed excitement during a face-to-face meeting on Wednesday evening. Two previous attempts in the last 14 months to pass a replacement levy have failed, but the district reacted twice by lowering its proposed levy amount. The Lewis County Auditor's Office announced that the next election will be published on Thursday, May 6th, and that the election will be confirmed the next day.
