Four firms awarded €2.5m grant for cardiac rehab project - Med-Tech Innovation


The NHS recognized digital therapeutics company my mhealth with three European employees has received a Eurostars grant of EUR 2.5 million for the development of its innovative CUOREMA project.

Eurostars is a joint European program co-financed by the national budgets of 36 EUREKA countries and the European Union until Horizon 2020. As a UK funding agency, Innovate UK will sponsor my mhealth Limited to develop part of its myHeart app to support heart rehabilitation in Europe.

Together with three experienced European partners; The project Ospedale Malcantonese (OSCAM) (Switzerland), Games for Health (Netherlands) and the University of Applied Sciences and Arts of Southern Switzerland (SUPSI) (Switzerland) aims to use the cardiac rehabilitation element of the myHeart app and to integrate biofeedback , intelligent algorithms and gamification functions. During the three years of planning and development, the platform will be formally explored in the UK and several European countries through formal clinical studies.

The CUOREMA project focuses on the development of a new, patient-centered and intelligent system to support cardiac rehabilitation. The scalable, adaptable and flexible technology aims to provide a new systematic method for social and biological feedback from wearable devices. The app will include integrated behavior change support systems using mixed reality and immersive technology to improve medical compliance and clinical outcomes.

The Eurostars program is a funding and support program for SMEs with R&D performance who want to take advantage of international cooperation. The application process is extremely competitive with 506 applications from 36 countries. The evaluation process considers three key areas for evaluation. Quality, impact and excellence.

As a project manager, my mhealth is clinical and technological experts in digital health applications for long-term conditions, with COPD in the foreground. Her expertise in this field as well as her vision and experience in digital therapy were recognized by the jury. In particular, the project achieved the highest scores in the Innovation & R & D category.

In compliance with strict guidelines, the app will be compatible for use throughout the European Union. Once developed, the app content will be available in five languages: French, Italian, Portuguese, German and Spanish.
