Nowadays you often hear the word "infotainment". Put simply, the central screens that now dominate most dashboards control both information and entertainment, and you will interact with them quite often. The first thing you need to think about when looking at the screen is whether the menu system is logical. Then test the controls and the way you interact with them. Here are the basic types along with some questions to consider when testing.

Touchscreen: Is it easy to understand the symbols or functions? Is it easy to switch between features like the audio system and navigation? Are the controls distracting while driving or are they hard to find? Is the screen responding to your touch or is there a lag? Are you getting glare from the sun that could be a problem?

Touch Pads: Are the controls intuitive or do you want a touchscreen? How many pads are there? Where are you? (Some may be on the steering wheel.) Does the touchpad have different areas that you need to touch to interact with different items on the menu screen? Does it respond quickly to your touch or is there a delay?

Knobs: Do you like this system? You can easily understand how to get to certain functions, e.g. B. to push or pull a button to one side or the other? Are there keyboard shortcuts for the various functions? How quickly can you move from one role to the next?

Keys: Are they physical or virtual buttons? Do they give you feedback when you press them to confirm an action? Are they easy to squeeze or are they difficult? React?
