Twitter users could soon be able to tip their favourite accounts


Twitter was expected to introduce a new Tip JAR functionality for its audio-only Spaces platform. The company later confirmed the addition of the feature, but now Twitter wants to add a tip button to individual profiles as well. A new button hidden in the Twitter app suggests that the feature might be just around the corner.

Jane Manchun Wong, researcher at The Verge, unveiled the Tip Glass button, which is reportedly currently being tested prior to a full rollout. Just like the tip jar on Twitter Spaces, the new tip button will be incorporated into a number of popular payment portals so that users can easily send money to others.

These supported platforms include Bandcamp, Patreon, PayPal, Venmo, and Cash App. Twitter could add other payment options later as well. The Tip button is currently next to the "Edit Profile" button.

While the button doesn't indicate a confirmed rollout of the feature, it is very likely that Twitter will roll out another feature called Super Follow. Super Follow allows users to pay for exclusive tweets, fleets, and other content.

Super Following also shows the icons and text in black, as opposed to the app's classic blue color when you take a screenshot. However, Super Follow itself has not yet been rolled out to the public. The introduction of the two functions could possibly also happen around the same time.

Tremendous scope for India-US cooperation in health technology and pharma, says expert

As the US government stepped up its support to India in its fight against a deadly wave of COVID-19, an Indian public health expert pointed out the enormous scope for collaboration between India and the US on health technology and pharmaceuticals. "Now that we are out of the crisis, health technology and pharmaceuticals are two areas where there is tremendous scope for India-US collaboration," said Indian official Dr. Mrinalini Darswal, who is currently doing a PhD in public health with a focus on COVID-19 at Harvard University, tells.
